Map of Caleta de Fuste Fuerteventura

Its ideal location is one of the points in favour of this Majorero destination. It’s just five minutes away from the island’s airport and ten minutes from Puerto del Rosario on the east coast, in a central location. Do you know why it’s so appealing? Thanks to this and the fantastic bus service network, you won’t need to hire a car if you’re staying in Cala de Fuste de Fuerteventura.

Because this area, which is also known as El Castillo, is recently developed, most of its buildings are newly-built hotels and apartments. They are generally less than thirty years old and are positioned around a gorgeous seaside promenade.

It’s super-easy to get to this resort, which lies on a tranquil bay with light sand and a stunningly azure sea. Take the FV-2 southbound if you’re in Puerto del Rosario, and towards the north from Morro Jable or the surrounding area.

If you’re coming from Corralejo, you’ll have to take the FV-1 to get to Puerto del Rosario, before turning onto the FV-2. You won’t have any problems getting there by car! You’ll pay around ten euros to get there by taxi from the airport.

Now we’ve shown you where Caleta de Fuste de Fuerteventura is on the map, we want to share some of its many attractions with you. It’s a great destination, offering unique accommodation, beautiful views and addictive entertainment!

Fun in the water

Naturally, this is somewhere to enjoy swimming, water sports and refreshing dips in the water. In particular, it has two beaches that we recommend, which are rather different:

  • La Guirra Beach. Despite its name, this is not one beach but a succession of small beaches separated by three islets. Golden sand, relaxing heather parasols and moderate waves are its stand-out features. Fun and a great vibe are guaranteed and the promenade, which runs alongside it, is fabulous.
  • El Castillo Beach. This beach is tremendously photogenic, with its horseshoe shape and crystal-clear water. It’s also sheltered from the waves and you’ll be sure to want to swim there when you see it.

You can windsurf, kayak, parasail, surf,  paddle surf and try out other water sports at both beaches. If you’re a diver, you’ll love seeing the fauna and flora off the shore. The amazing clarity of the water makes this a great experience.

Culture, nature, sport and heritage

Together with the windmills that are characteristic of the island, the surrounding countryside is dotted with lime kilns. When you see them, consider that they are evocative of one of the historical pillars of this territory’s economy.

Naturally, the Salt Museum bears witness to the importance that salt has always had in the area, sustained by the El Carmen salt flats.

For history and culture buffs, the Castle of San Buenaventura is the key attraction in Cala de Fuste in Fuerteventura. Built in the eighteenth century, this is an architectural gem that you really must visit.

The municipality of Antigua is also a cultural and sporting hotspot. Around every corner and along every street you’ll find both history and nature. That’s why this is a top destination for hikers, cyclists and other adventurers.

The two golf courses, both with eighteen holes and specialist shops, attract lots of golfers. At the Oceanarium Explorer, you can swim with sea lions, take a catamaran trip, go fishing and much more.

Food and great weather

Eating well is an everyday pleasure that more and more travellers are enjoying. This destination has a good number of quality restaurants, which bring together international and local cuisine. Gofio (a type of cereal meal), papas arrugás (literally “wrinkled potatoes”), Majorero cheese and goat meat are some of the local highlights.

The weather is superb throughout the year. The annual average temperature is 20 °C and the sky is almost always blue. The hottest months are between July and October.
